Pattern Description:

After designing the Felted Citrus Tea Cozies, I thought a couple of matching kitchen accessories would not only be useful, but add the same cheer, as the cozies!

The mug mats are sized to fit the largest coffee mug or even a cup and saucer. The pot mat is large enough for a large pot or pan. You can make the mug mats with or without the hanging loop.

I used Oasis Aussi Wool, a chunky-bulky wt. soft wool yarn for the mats. It feels nice while knitting, felts wonderfully, is reasonably priced, and comes in a wide range of solid colors, but, of course, you may use your prefered wool yarn (but not superwash, naturally!)

16 sts and 20 rows = 4" (10 cm) with size 10 ndls or size to give gauge.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished Dimensions- Knit (Felted):
  • Diameter Mug Mat: 6.75" (5.75")
  • Diameter Pot Mat: 11.75" (9.25")

  • Lemon Slice Mug or Pot Mat: Oasis Aussi Wool (Bulky), 100% wool, approx. 128 yds / 100 gram hank: 1 hank each W12 Lemonade (MC), W08 Natural (A), and W13 Honeymoon (B)
  • Lime Slice Mug or Pot Mat: 1 hank each W34 Sassy Lime (MC), W08 Natural (A), and W52 Willow Bough (B)
  • Orange Slice Mug or Pot Mat: 1 hank each W14 Sunset (MC), W08 Natural (A), and W13 Honeymoon (B)
  • US size 10 (6 mm) dpns
  • 16" US size 10 ckns
  • Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook (for hanging loop)
  • Notes: 1) One hank of each of any 3 citrus colors can make 6 mug mats or 2 pot mats. 2) I would not place the mat with a hot pot on a finished wood surface.

You Will Also Need:

  • Tapestry ndl, stitch marker
