Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Pattern Description:

A soft, thick afghan worked in Domino knitting squares. You can work the afghan all in one color, or alternate squares of different colors or textures. It is an excellent design for variegated yarns such as Noro Kureyon.

Unlike the usual patchwork afghan, which is made of many squares knitted separately and then sewn together, the Domino knitting technique makes each square (except the bottom ones) on the foundation of another square, so there are no seams to sew!

~17 sts = 4", depending on yarn (need not be exact)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 36" x 48" for a Small afghan; 48" x 60" for a Medium afghan; 54: x 67" for a Large afghan

  • From 25 to 50 50-g balls of bulky yarn, depending on afghan size
  • Nos. 8 and 9 OR Nos. 9 and 10 needles

You Will Also Need:

  • Locking markers, or small stitch holders
  • Yarn needle for working in ends
