Originally from the UK, and after almost 13 years in Texas, I now live in beautiful Colorado with my husband and sons. Easily outnumbered by boys in my house, I am queen of my little realm, hence the title Ladyship!
Ever since my Mum taught me to knit and sew I have loved the creative process and experimenting with design.
I find pillow covers to be the perfect way to combine my love of design and the textures that can be created with a single strand of yarn. I especially love experimenting with cable patterns.
This 60"x72" blanket was inspired by one of my pillow cover designs: https://www.etsy.com/listing/118811806/blackberry-cables-hand-knit-16-x-16?ref=shop_home_active
I was asked by a customer to knit a blanket in the same pattern and this is the result. Its knit in a double thickness 100% wool, worsted yarn.
This pattern is really for the experienced knitter who is willing to put in a lot of hours of knitting!
Its knit back and forth on a circular needle to accomodate the large number of stitches.
You will need to know how to use a cable needle and be able to knit two different patterns over different numbers of rows.... but it will be worth the hard work!
4"x4" (10 x 10 cm) on 8mm/US11/UK1 = 16 stitches and 20 rows
