Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit
  • purl
  • pick up stitches

Pattern Description:

Use a modular knitting technique and a double strand of sock yarn to create this gorgeous garter stitch blanket. It is all connected as you go, built on square on top of another, which makes for very minimal finishing. Enjoy the many washable bright colors available in sock yarn, at a bigger gauge!


18 sts and 18 ridges to 4 inches in garter stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 31 x 36 inches


  • 400 yards of coordinating worsted weight cotton blend, 200 yards each of 2 colors, for border
  • Size 7, 24" circular needle
  • 1800 yards of sock yarn, divided evenly between 4 or 5 colors

Suggested yarn:

1800 yards of Fingering weight
