Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit in the round

Pattern Description:

This design was made to co-ordinate with a nautical nursery theme. Because I wanted the stripes to circle the blanket without carrying multiple balls of yarn, I designed it to be center out. The 'zig-zag- design in one of the outer rings puckers just enough to give the 'waves' a 3 dimensional feel.

The hardest part of the project is carrying all the stitches as the blanket becomes bigger and bigger. At the end I was using both a 60" + a 29" circular needle to handle all the stitches. I used 600 yards of the blue yarn, and 400 yards of the cream total for both items.

22 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inch in stockinette stitch.
