  • SKILLS Knitting in the round, lace, grafting (underarm sts). Both charts and line by line instructions included

Pattern Description:

ZYLPHIA only looks soft, sweet and demure. She pilots her own airship and smuggles opium in the hold.

Zylphia was designed for the SANGUINE GRYPHON STEAMPUNK COLLECTION. I wanted a vintage-inspired design, but also wanted to include some modern waist shaping. The central lace panel consists of honeybee lace, faggoting and arrowhead lace - all vintage lace patterns.

The 3/4 length sleeves feature a honeybee lace panel on the lower sleeve. Three rounds of Vikkel braid separate the upper and lower sleeves.

Thread a ribbon through the picot neckline to adjust the neck.

ZYLPHIA is knit in the round from the bottom up. The sleeves are knit in the round cuff up and joined to the main body of the sweater. The remainder of the sweater is worked in one piece using yoked decreasing modified to work with the center lace panels.

The stitch count within the lace panels varies depending upon the round. When total stitch counts are given, assume that the small lace panel on the sleeves accounts for 25 sts, and each large lace panel accounts for 51 sts (102 sts total for front/back of sweater).

Thank you to Barbara Walker; the lace patterns used came from her stitch dictionaries.
