Wool Soaker / Diaper Cover / Nappy Cover

Wool Soaker / Diaper Cover / Nappy Cover

Pattern Description:

Wool diaper covers (also called soakers in the US, or nappy covers in the UK ) are breathable and environmentally friendly. Wool has been used as a water-resistant cover for diapers for generations. Clean, lanolized wool covers will absorb 30% of their weight in moisture before they feel wet.

This soaker has been designed and knitted all-in-one by me to eliminate bulky seams. It features a ribbed waist and legs to ensure a snug fit around the diaper. The waist ribbing has no visible cast on, and features a hand knit I-cord drawstring for use with a smaller waist but this can be detached or omitted if not required. It also has a double-rib super stretchy and absorbent crotch which makes
it ideal for night time use.

The virtually seamless design uses interesting knitting techniques suitable for intermediate knitters. These are not described in detail here but links are given to video demonstrations for those unfamiliar with these techniques. Alternatives for beginner knitters using standard knitting techniques are also given, though these will result in more conventional seaming of the garment.
