Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round with double pointed needles
  • basic, knit and purl stitches

Pattern Description:

This sweater is knit from the top down?the yoke is worked, then the sleeve stitches are placed on holders while the body is worked. The sleeve stitches are returned to double pointed needles then worked from the underarm to the cuff in the round.

No seaming is required to make this piece.


16 sts and 23 rows = 4" (10 cm) in 2 x 2 Rib after wet blocking and stretching to dry.

  • 311/2 (351/2, 391/2, 431/2, 471/2, 511/2, 551/2)"
  • 77.5 (87.5, 98, 108, 118, 128.5, 138.5) cm


  • Plymouth's Homestead yarn: 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) hanks in color 101 Light Grey Heather
  • or approx 610 (700, 810, 930, 1060, 1170, 1320) yards in a comparable earth-friendly yarn
  • 29" circular size US 9 (5.5 mm)
  • double pointed needles size US 9 (5.5 mm)
  • straight needles size US 8 (5 mm)

  • stitch markers
  • Stitch holders or waste yarn
