Women, Plus-sized

Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, pick up stitches, increase, decrease

Pattern Description:

I love the slip stitch pattern in this sweater! I used a darker yarn as the background, to make the foreground really stand out. The square neckline looks great on anyone, and it complements the geometric nature of the stitch pattern. You can work the sweater up in the short sleeve version shown in the photos, or opt for long sleeves instead.

The yarn I used works up at a gauge of 5.5 sts per inch in Stockinette stitch; if you wish to use a different yarn, make sure you find one that will match this gauge.

27 sts and 33 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Waffle Stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • XXS (30") to 6X (70")

  • 750-1250 yards light worsted weight yarn in one color; 750-1500 yards in second color
  • size 7 (4.5 mm) needles

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch markers

At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.
