I have this pattern and I finished the socks recently! I made them black with the flames in color-fading yarn that went from orange in the top to deep red on the toe. Just perfect for flames! One modification is that I made the soles checkered (3st by 4 rows) instead of striped.I made them in a size large and it was a lot of work, but totally worth it! The lucky guy, who got them, was so happy to get them he was speechless!This pattern is so cleverly worked out, you will never be in doubt at any point while knitting these. You are safely guided by both charts and text all the way through. There will never be boring repeats - there's something new going on on every row while knitting these. A fun challenge!
