About the designer

At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, increases, decreases, picking up stitches, yarnovers, provisional cast-on (instructions included); short-row shaping (optional)

Pattern Description:

This beautiful cardigan will go anywhere - from home, to work, to a night out. Because it's worked from the top down, you can make it any length that suits you. And the waist and hip shaping make the cardigan figure-flattering. Wear it over your favorite tank top, or work the matching Top-Down Shell (Pattern #169) to go with it.

The yarn I used works up at a gauge of 6 sts per inch in Stockinette stitch; if you wish to use a different yarn, make sure you find one that will match this gauge.

24 sts and 33 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • XXS (28") to 7X (72")

  • 975-2300 yards DK weight yarn
  • size 5 (3.75 mm) and 4 (3.5 mm) needles, circular and double-pointed needles

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch markers; waste yarn; three 1.25" and three .5" buttons
