I love intertwining cable patterns like this one and I thought it would be fun to see what happens when you combine it with stripes. The stripes highlight the two main "motifs" in the pattern, and there is a single Stockinette stitch row at the beginning of each color change to keep the colors flowing without any of those purl "bumps" you sometimes get in color changes. Use the colors given here, try your own favorites, or experiment with different shades of the same color.
The yarn I used works up at a gauge of 4.25 sts per inch in Stockinette stitch; if you wish to use a different yarn, make sure you find one that will match this gauge.
30 sts and 28 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Grillwork Lattice
At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.
