Pattern Description:

Start Gazing is a light summer cardigan worked in delicate sport weight yarn to wrap around you for a romantic and flattering look.

The large oversized lace collar frames the face and adds an air of sophistication to a simple top-down cardigan.

The cardigan is worked in one piece, with the collar worked at the same time as the body. The yoke uses traditional raglan shaping, for an easily to customize fit. The length of both the sleeves and the body is easily adaptable to your individual preferences as well.


Bust (recommended bust size): 34 (37, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51)"
*Note on fit: the fronts are overlapping by over 6" on each side of the cardigan, but the back and sleeves are worked for the recommended bust size, with about 4" in total ease.*
Bust (finished garment): 38 (40, 43, 453/4, 483/4, 51, 533/4)"

Sample size made is 40" bust with wearer about 34" bust.

**Yarn requirements**:

1240 (1370, 1500, 1630, 1770, 1900, 2030) yards of sport weight yarn.

Sample shows Knitpicks Galileo (sport weight, 50% Merino Wool, 50% Viscose from Bamboo, 131 yds per 50 gr) in color "pearl".


24 sts and 32 rows = 4" in stockinette st, blocked.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X)
  • Bust (recommended bust size): 34 (37, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51)"


  • 1240 (1370, 1500, 1630, 1770, 1900, 2030) yards of sport weight yarn
  • US size 4 (3.5mm) circular 32 inches or longer
  • US size 4 (3.5mm) DPNs (optional)

You Will Also Need:

  • Tapestry needle
  • 8 stitch markers
  • Scrap yarn for holding stitches

Suggested yarn:

1300 yards of Sport weight
