This Varsity Sweater is a lighter weight version of the Baby Varsity Sweater (available on Craftsy), that I designed in 2011 in worsted weight yarn.
Like the heavier sweater, this one is knit from the top down, has a V neck and is seamless. The neckband is knit on after the body is complete and can be knit in a contrasting color if you prefer. It has 2 pockets that are knit on afterwards also. There is an alphabet graph included with the pattern so you can add a letter (or 2) in duplicate stitch.
Approximately 10 yds of a contrasting color yarn is needed for the sleeve stripes and one letter.
23 sts / 30 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch
220 yards of Sport weight

My great-aunt taught me to knit when I was a child of about 8 yrs old so I've been knitting "forever". For the past 2 years I've been designing baby sweaters and selling the patterns. After I retired a few years ago, I started knitting for charity. I knit mostly baby sweaters and send them to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in SD. Selling the patterns I design helps to cover the cost of yarn and shipping. When I design a baby sweater in multiple sizes, I knit all the sizes myself, then send them all to Pine Ridge. I love knitting and I love babies. :)View all patterns by designer (43) »
