Women, Plus-sized

Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, cable

Pattern Description:

I like this pattern very much, especially the way the cables are offset and "nest" against each other. Because of the simplicity of this pattern, you can be adventuresome and experiment with the yarn that you use. Try a variegated yarn, or maybe even two yarns that you strand together when you knit. And in case you prefer set-in sleeves, this pattern includes instructions for those as well as the dropped shoulders pictured in the model.

In Simple Cable Pattern, 17 sts and 16 rows = 4"/10 cm; in Rev st st, 12 sts and 16 rows = 4"/10 cm.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • XS (35") to 5X (67")

  • Bulky weight wool blend, 962-1628 yards
  • One pair size 11 (8 mm) knitting needles
  • one size 10 (6 mm) circular needle, 16" long

At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.
