Joan McGowan-Michael has been a professional fashion designer for more 25 years, styling garments for retailers as diverse as Frederick's of Hollywood and JC Penney. She founded her company, White Lies Designs, in 2001. It has since become the original go-to resource for lingerie patterns for hand knitting, and other romantic, vintage inspired knitwear styles in a wide range of sizes from petite to plus. Joan is a self-professed "fit geek" and incorporates dressmaker-style tailoring in many of her styles.
You've seen her work in Big Girl Knits, Stitch & Bitch Nation, and The Best of Interweave Knits. She has appeared on DIY's Knitty Gritty and the PBS series Shay Pendray's Needlework Studio. Her book, "Knitting Lingerie Style," was released in May 2007 by STC Publishing.
This is an airy sweater, perfect for warmer weather, or protection from air conditioning. I wear it over sleeveless sundresses all summer long.
The stitch pattern is yet another variation on the ever popular "Fan and Feather" motif. It is easy to memorize and in a size 10 1/2 needle, works up quickly.
There are two views available. The first is a casual option as shown in the cover photo; the second longer and more dressy.
Try this over our free Shapely Tank pattern for a lovely twinset. Find it at http://www.whiteliesdesigns.com .
