I am a self taught designer, having spent many hours researching and reading about the skills needed to learn clothing design. Having had much experience sewing, gave me a lot of knowledge about how clothing is constructed, which is an essential skill in being able to design. Experience knitting, gave me the tools I needed to master knitting techniques and be able to shape the fabric in the way I want. Learning is an ongoing pastime, there are always new techniques to master.
I design clothing for children up to about 10 years and also adults.
I have been published in Universal Yarns, Willow Yarns, One Skein Wonders for Babies, as well as various online magazines and self published designs.
This fun little sundress has playful ruffles on the tiered
skirt. Let your imagination run wild with fun bold colors.
Embellishing it with crocheted, knitted or embroidered flowers
adds to the fun look.
There are variations for a skirt and a swingy tank top as well,
for lots of options to mix and match and create a fun summer
This dress is worked in the round from the bottom up and divided at the armholes, so there are no seams to sew.
Gauge is not critical for the skirt of the dress (worked on the US10 needles), but should be maintained when working the bodice of the dress (on the US 8 needles) in order to ensure proper fit.
On US 8 (5mm) needles, 18 sts and 25 rows = 4" , worked in St st
On US 10 (6mm) needles, 16.5 sts and 23 rows = 4", worked in St st
