Basic Skills Necessary:

  • increase
  • work in the round

Pattern Description:

With short sleeves perfect for spring and summer, this short ruffle dress is a perfect last minute baby gift when you don't have time (or inclination!) to knit a receiving blanket. Seed stitch details along the hems and skirt add some some fun to the knitting, and the buttons can be as delicate or funky as you would like.

Buttons: If you are worried about buttons as a choking hazard you may wish to substitute a zipper, hook and eye closures, or simply seam up the front. A tutorial for creating and attaching the button loops is included.

This pattern will knit up nicely in solid or semi solid yarns. Multi-color yarns in contrasting colors will also work but may show more obvious pooling.

Dress is knit back and forth from the top down with raglan style increasing for the sleeves. Sleeves are worked in the round on double pointed needles.
