Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, increase, decrease, pick up stitches

Pattern Description:

A little cardi with moss stitch bands and a choice of either a collar or neckband.
There are six pockets, each with a toy attached by a removable clip-on cord.
The pattern is given for 8 small (average 6 cm) toys to give you a choice: cat, sheep, owl, chook, caterpillar, ball, doughnut ring, smiley face. Sleeves are worked top down, so they can lengthened.

4 sizes for 1 year old up to 5 year old.


27 sts, 34 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • To fit chest approx size in cms: 53, 55, 57, 60


  • 4 ply /fingering: total needed including toys - 165 gms for smallest size up to 215 gms for largest
  • 6, 7, 7, 8 buttons (depending on size of cardi) 15 -20 mm diameter

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 pair 3.5 mm (US 4) needles
  • 1 pair 3 mm (US 2.5) needles (for toys)
  • 6 "lobster clasp" type clips 21 mm size
  • small amount toy filling
  • 6 large safety pins and 3 stitch holders
