Pattern Description:

Little Tulip is a seamless sweater worked from the top down. A sideways tulip pattern yoke is made first, and it is worked together with an i-cord neckband.
After the tulip yoke is completed, stitches along its lower edge are picked up for the body and sleeves, and short rows are used to raise the back of the neck. The body and sleeves are worked top down, and are finished with i-cord bind off. There are two sleeve options: long and short.

Gauge:

stockinette st: 22 sts and 28 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in

i-cord BO row gauge: 22 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in

i-cord neckband row gauge: approx. 21.5 rows = 10 cm / 4 in

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Sizes: 1.5-2 (3-4, 5-6) [7-8, 9-10, 11-12] years (shown in size 3-4 years)
  • Finished chest measurements: 58 (62, 67) [71, 76, 80] cm/ 23 (24.5, 26) [28, 30, 31.5] in

Materials:

  • Yarn: DK yarn, the sample was made with Sirdar Snuggly DK (nylon 55%, acrylic 45%; 175 metres/ 191 yards per 50g ball; color: 242 Flamenco).
  • Yarn amount for short sleeved sweater: 450 (500, 600) [650, 750, 850] metres or 500 (550, 660) [710, 820, 930] yards.
  • Yarn amount for long sleeved sweater: 600 (700, 800) [900, 1075, 1250] metres or 660 (770, 880) [990, 1175, 1370] yards.

You Will Also Need:

  • one set of 4 mm (US #6) DPNs for tulip yoke and sleeves
  • one 4 mm (US #6) circular needle 60-80 cm/ 24-32 in in length (depending on selected garment size) for lower part of yoke
  • one 40-60 cm/ 16-24 in 4 mm (US #6) circular needle (depending on selected garment size) for body
  • one 5 mm (US #8) DPN for i-cord BO
  • 3 small buttons, approx. 13 mm in diameter
  • stitch markers
  • scrap yarn
  • yarn needle to thread scrap yarn with and sewing needle to sew buttons on
