Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • long-tail cast-on, knitting, purling, knitting in the round, increasing, decreasing, knitting on dpns, picking up stitches, yarn over, working a twisted stitch pattern.

Pattern Description:

Perfect for an intermediate knitter, this cozy little coat is knit seamlessly from the top down for the hoodless version and with just one seam at the top of the hood for the hooded version (a seamless hood solution is suggested).

The body is worked flat, the sleeves are worked in the round.
Stitches are picked up along each side edge and hood to work woven basket stitch band in one piece. Optional pockets can be added.
Blocking is strongly suggested.

14 sts x 20 rows = 4 inches or 10 cm in stockinette stitch using smaller needles

16 sts x 20 rows = 4 inches or 10 cm in woven basket stitch using bigger needles

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 0-3mo (3-6mo, 6-12mo, 12-18mo, 2T-3T, 3T-4T)
  • Finished garment has chest circumferences of 20 (22, 23, 24, 25.5, 26) inches or 51 (56, 58, 61, 64, 66) cm.

  • US 10 / 6mm double-pointed needles (for sleeves), or size needed to get stockinette stitch gauge.
