Pattern Description:

Felted knitting is the perfect material for the coziest, comfiest slippers for little feet. Felted wool is a natural fiber that keeps feet at the perfect temperature because it breathes. They are also soft enough to wear barefoot. These slippers make a very special gift and can be personalized by choosing a special yarn color. Get creative, try different embellishments and make your slippers unique!!

These slippers are knit and then felted in the washing machine to create a soft, sturdy felted fabric. It is great fun to see the knitted slippers shrink down to adorable slippers any kid would love to wear.

Gauge:

In garter stitch: approximately 3 1/2 stitches per inch and 8 rows (4 garter ridges) before felting.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

Pattern includes directions for three sizes:
child's shoe size 7-8 = 6" (1-2 year old)
child's shoe size 9-10 = 6 3/4" (2 1/2-3 1/2 year old)
child's shoe size 11-12 = 7 1/2" (4-5 year old)

Materials:

80-150 yards of worsted weight 100% wool yarn
size US 10.5 (6.5mm) 16" circular knitting needles
stitch markers
row counter
small amount of contrasting yarn

You Will Also Need:

For felting you will need a pair of old jeans or a couple of old towels, small amount of laundry detergent (Woolite works well), a zippered pillowcase or mesh lingerie bag (not necessary but it will keep lint from collecting in your washer
