Pattern Description:

This is one of four nursery rhyme sweaters to knit (the others are The Owl and the Pussycat, Queen of Hearts, and The Cow Jumped Over the Moon) with the design on the front and back of each sweater. Easy to follow full color stitch charts are provided for each side, and there are instructions for changing yarn colors for the intarsia design.

Because of its symmetric design, Humpty Dumpty is an easy intarsia pattern to work. If you haven't tried intarsia before, this is a good place to start!

Gauge:

10 sts and 12 rows = 2" (5cm).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 2, 6, 10, small, medium

Materials:

  • Yarn: double knitting or worsted cotton or wool, blue yarn 175 yards (160m) to 560 yards (510m), grey yarn 50 yards (45m) to 140 yards (150m), 35 yards (30m) each of pink and dark red yarn, 20 yards (18m) each of black and white yarn
  • Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles

  • stitch markers
  • 2 stitch holders
  • Large tapestry needle (blunt point) for finishing
