Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Increases and decreases
  • Knit in the round
  • Pick up stitches
  • Provisional cast on

Pattern Description:

This simple baby sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down with raglan increases for the sleeves and a Moss Stitch pattern all over. Stitches are set aside for the sleeves and the body is worked in one piece to the hem. Sleeve stitches are placed onto dpns and knit in the round. Stitches are picked up from the provisional cast on and worked to create the hood and finally stitches are picked up and worked in rib to form the button band.


18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in Stocking Stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 3 months (6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 24 months)


  • Aran / Worsted weight yarn 100g/230 yds ball x 1(2,2,2,2) balls
  • Knitting needles in size US 8 (5mm)
  • Set of 4 double pointed needles in size US 8 (5mm)
  • Tapestry needle
  • 4 stitch markers
  • 2 stitch holders
  • 4(4,5,5,5)buttons

Suggested yarn:

400 yards of Worsted weight
