Women, Plus-sized

Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit and purl

Pattern Description:

I love the stitch design for this sweater - it's very simple (just a slip stitch pattern done over 2 rows!), yet when you add the contrasting color, it looks very complex. I used just 4 pairs of buttons, and didn't continue them down the length of the sweater; the result is that it doesn't cling to your hips - and it leaves lots of room for movement.

In Fluted Fabric Stitch, 24 sts and 31 rows = 4"/10 cm.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • XXS (29.5") to 6X (69.5")

  • Worsted weight cotton, 1110 - 2220 yards
  • One pair size 9 (5.5 mm) knitting needles
  • one size 6 (4 mm) circular needle, 40" long
  • one pair size 6 (4mm) double pointed needles (dpn) for I-Cord

You Will Also Need:

  • 8 7/8" buttons

At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.
