When I first found this beautiful Fir Cone Lace pattern, I thought it would be wonderful in a graceful twin set. In designing the cardigan, I decided to pair the Fir Cone Lace with a similar, more vertical lace pattern. So I dropped all but 2 rows of the original stitch pattern an voila! - the Ladder Lace was born! Wear this cardigan over the matching shell which inspired it (Fir Cone Lace Shell #106).
The yarn I used works up at a gauge of 6 sts per inch in Stockinette stitch; if you wish to use a different yarn, make sure you find one that will match this gauge.
23 sts and 29 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Fir Cone Lace pattern, using smaller needles
At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.
