Basic Skills Necessary:
- Stitches used in this pattern are knit, purl, knit two together, and purl two together. There are detailed directions for steeking, and there are many online tutorials. Don't be afraid. Your stitches won't disappear, and you'll wonder why the term "steeking" gave you shivers before!
Eighteen is a traditional Fair Isle vest, knit in the round with steeks at the neck and armholes. The only seams are at the shoulders!
Seven colors of yarn are used, with 3 colorways listed on the pattern...or create your own. The color work is charted.
This vest was created after a request for a class in a local yarn shop. All effort has been given to keeping the instructions in a logical progression for students.

- This sample was knit using Brown Sheep Yarns "Nature Spun Sport". Depending on size to be knit, and if using these colors, you will need, 3-5 skeins #104 Grecian Olive, 1-2 skeins #103 Deep Sea, 1 skein each #148 Autumn Leaves, ##N60 Purple Splendor, #N42 Royal Purple, #115 Bit of Blue, #124 Butterscotch, one size 4 (3.5mm) circular knitting needle - 24" or 32", one size 2 (3.0mm) circular knitting needle - 16" or 24", stitch markers, stitch holders, safety pin or locking stitch marker, scissors, darning needle, (optional) point protectors - to keep stitches from slipping off needle tips.
