I needed a versatile long-sleeved cardigan for my fall/winter wardrobe. Something that wasn't too heavy, definitely not too light (since I'm always cold!), not too plain but also not too complicated, and something that would work with all of my other clothes, whether they be casual or more dressed up. And I wanted it to be an easy, seamless knit but that wasn't a boring project either. Out of all these demands came "Common Ground."
It's an open hooded cardigan sized from XS-4X that is knit seamlessly from the top-down. It is meant to be worn open, so it does not completely cover the chest. The yoke part is knit in garter stitch to give it some texture. Then the body incorporates a simple diamond eyelet stitch pattern that gives it that extra something special. I included a hood to really give it that autumnal feel, but since the hood is created by picking up stitches you could always forego adding it if you prefer. It's knit up using bulky-weight yarn so it's a pretty fast project--I used Cascade Ecological Wool which, at over 470 yards a skein, you'll only need 2-4 skeins of (depending on your size)!
3.75 stitches & 7 rows = 1" in garter
