Be cool and elegant in this lacy top. The lace and delicate beading (optional) embellish the simple fitted shape while also providing a lightness that keeps you cool.
This sleeveless top is knitted from the bottom up in the round. At the underarms, the back and front are then worked separately. There is lace edging at the hem, which provides a scalloped border and repeated at the midriff for a pretty accent.
The remainder is done in stockinette stitch with waist shaping for a graceful look. The neckline and armholes are trimmed with a delicate picot edging and optional beads cam be added on the midriff lace panel, and neck and armhole edges.
Wear it as a vest in cooler seasons, and a sleeveless top in summer.
22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stocking stitch

I have been knitting on and off since my teens, but became somewhat obsessed with it in 2007. I love squishy wools for the short, mild Los Angeles winters, and like cottons and blends for the rest of the year. I really believe that even beginner knitters can create something beautiful and useful, so I strive to keep patterns simple yet original. I am Goodstuff on Ravelry, and blog from time to time about knitting and life here: http://www.knitandtravelandsuch.blogspot.com/.
I have sold designs to Interweave Knits, Knitpicks, Creative Knitting magazine, KNIT magazine (Yarn Forward), Yarn magazine, Knit Now magazine, Classic Elite Yarns, The Sanguine Gryphon, and Three Irish Girls Yarns.
