The cable panels in this cardigan are worked at the same time as the fronts. The cables are crossed on WS rows, and the panels are then folded over to the RS. The right front has buttons hidden on the WS that button through the cable crosses on the left front, no buttons or buttonholes will show if you wear the cardigan open. Or if you prefer, use a belt or favorite pin to keep the fronts closed.
The yarn I used works up at a gauge of 4.5 sts per inch in Stockinette stitch; if you wish to use a different yarn, make sure you find one that will match this gauge.
18 sts and 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch

At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.
