Pattern Description:

This heavily-cabled, shawl-collar cardigan is inspired by wide fireplaces, large mugs of mead, and toast with butter and honey.

The upper and lower body of this cardigan are picked up from the waistband, which is knit first.

The cardigan is designed to fit with 2-4" of positive ease.


29 sts and 30 rows to 4.5" in cable Chart B using larger needles
18 sts and 24 rows to 4"/10cm in st st using larger needles

  • 1075 (1225, 1375, 1525) yards Aran-weight wool
  • 5 x 1 1/8"/28 mm buttons
  • US Size 6/4.0 mm straight or circular needles
