Baby Ruched Cardigan

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit
  • kfb increase
  • i-cord

Pattern Description:

This baby cardigan started with a scarf that I saw 4 years ago. I put the idea aside and it kept stewing. Soon, I started designing and I dragged the design back and I knew I just had to make it. The cardigan is a top down raglan and really quite simple. The gauge leaves room for a variety of yarn choices although for a nice lightweight garment I used a fingering weight.

23 sts /40 rows in garter stitch on the larger needles. This is a washed swatch. Make sure to wash your
swatch according to directions to account for any change in yarn gauge.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 3 months (6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2T, 4T). Chest measurements are approximate, finished measurements as garment has some stretch: 19"(20, 21, 23, 24, 26)

  • Stroll Tonal Sock Yarn; 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon , 462 yards/100 gram hank color: Queen Anne 1 (1, 1, 1, 2*, 2) skein(s). or comparable fingering weight in same amounts. *The 2T size is very close yardage wise to 462 yards. All testers came in under that but, within a yard or two, therefore the suggested yarn usage is 2 skeins to be safe.
  • Needles: 1 24" size US 4/3.5mm circular needle 1 24" size US 5/3.75mm circular needle If you get gauge with another sized needle, you will need one needle one size down, as well. Double pointed needle in size US size 4/3.5mm or US size 5/3.75 for i-cord button loops

You Will Also Need:

  • Other: 2 or 3 small or medium sized buttons (I used 3/4") 4 stitch markers darning needle
