I really enjoy sharing my passion for maintaining excellence, quality, beauty and joy in the process and practice of fiber art. I want to honor the human skills involved, keep them from becoming a dying art and acknowledge the rich heritage, the diversity and multicultural history of handcrafted textiles.
I try to stay mindful when sourcing my materials, thoughtfully choosing sustainable, natural and renewable resources...................
I love the notion of slowing down in order to have quality rather than quantity in life. The idea is that fashion should be less dependent on rapidly changing trends and colors (fast money for the rich) and more about quality, sustainability, and thoughtfulness in design and materials. The things we create we should make with care and there should be an expectation that they will have meaning to us. Herein lies great Joy in the creative process. ........................
I work in my studio in our Century Farmhouse on the northern (Canadian) shore of Lake Ontario in the small island farming community of Prince Edward County.
I have been knitting, spinning, sewing and quilting as well as hand painting yarns and fabrics for these crafts for many many years.

One of my own personal favorites developed over years of refining the pattern to fit well, look good and be a joy to knit.
A Basic Hoodie Sweater Pattern to knit from the top-down all in one piece. For kids in 10 different sizes from 2T to size 16 or Adult small with about 4" of ease for a comfy "sweatshirt like" fit.
A Classic, timeless design with simple raglan cables and a new twist on construction carefully designed for smooth, uninterrupted nonstop knitting. One piece top-down construction helps you get the perfect fit every time.
This is a "Meditative" knit with easy repetitive shaping that flows without interruptions. Before you know it you're finished and the only sewing to do is the top of the hood and minimal ends to weave in.
My kids actually love to wear this. It's comfortable and looks great too.
I find myself knitting this again and again with simple variations that make it new each time. Make it a cardigan, lose the hood, add pockets or a stitch pattern for texture. Lots of ideas for variations included as well as a tutorial on an "Afterthought Pouch Pocket" that you can add to any knit.
You are unlikely to find an error now that this pattern has been to "The TECHsorcist" - Technical Editing by Eleanor Dixon
