Pattern Description:

Andante is an easy open front cardigan worked from the top down in a warm worsted weight wool. The straight body is shaped at the waist by a ribbing band to create a flattering silhouette. The ribbing band of the waist is echoed in the hem, collar and cuffs.

The finishing is limited to weaving in the ends, making this design an easy and rewarding project. The construction also allows for easy customization, making attractive to a wide range of knitters.


20 sts and 32 rows = 4"X4'' in stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Bust (finished garment): 32.5 (35.5, 39.5, 43.5, 46.5, 50.5, 54) inches
  • Length: 27 (27.5, 28, 28, 28.5, 28.5, 29) inches


  • 1050 (1150, 1275, 1425, 1550, 1675, 1850) yards of worsted weight wool.

You Will Also Need:

  • US size 7 (4.5mm) long straight or circular 32 inches or longer
  • US size 7 (4.5mm) set of DPNs for round knitting (optional)
  • Tapestry needle
  • 4 stitch markers or pieces of scrap yarn
  • Scrap yarn for holding sleeve stitches
