Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Turkish cast-on (explained in the pattern)
  • 3-needle bind-off (explained)
  • provisional cast-on (explained)

Pattern Description:

Amande cardigan is a cardigan with a very unusual construction, similar to her sister amandine cardigan

It is worked seamlessly, in the round from the shouldertop downwards and sideways. It(tm)s a bit tricky to start the special shoulder shaping, but after this first challenging part, it(tm)s plain, mindless knitting. The cardigan is worked flat from the neckopening downwards. The sleeves are worked in the round from the top down. Stitches are picked at the neck and fronts to work the bands.
The pattern includes instructions for 3/4 or long sleeves with matching elbow patches.
It is preferable to work with two different colors to show off the unique construction.

All techniques used (Turkish cast-on, different ways of increasing, provisional cast-on, 3 needle bind-off) are explained in full detail including diagrams and illustrations.
