This cardigan is a great layering piece for any season. It has top-down raglan construction, worked in one piece, and is completely seamless. Sleeves are split at the underarms and the body is worked in one piece to the hem. Stitches are picked up and knitted to create the front bands and short rows are used to create the shawl collar. If you have never done short rows before this is a great first project to learn them on.
Sleeve stitches are then transferred back to needles and bound off to create cap sleeve, although pattern can easily be tweaked to create longer sleeves.
2.5 stitches & 3.75 rows = 1" in St st

Im Elizabeth Smith and designing knitting patterns is my passion. I strive to create simple, modern designs and write patterns for them that are easy to follow and fun to knit. Most of my patterns are seamless and many are knit from the top-down. They are written with the beginner knitter in mind, providing lots of detailed instructions. I provide pattern support for all my designs so feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions-I love to help and make sure my customers enjoy the knitting process (not to mention the finished piece!)View all patterns by designer (32) »
