(6) Name: 'Knitting : Xenia

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic lace stitches (YO, SSK, k2tog)

Pattern Description:

Xenia is a generously sized, crescent shaped shawl that can be worn casually or for evenings out on the town in your favorite little black dress. With its ability to be worn in many ways, this shawl is sure to become a favorite in your personal knitwear wardrobe, or make a great gift for a scarf-loving friend. The shawl's center features a simple horizontal ridge detail to lend visual interest to an otherwise stockinette fabric. A beautifully scalloped knit on border adds an elegant finishing touch.

Pattern consists of 5 pages with both written and charted instruction. Instructions are also provided for a two-color variation.


20 sts and 30 rows = 4"/10 cm in stockinette st, unblocked

Getting exact gauge is not critical, but gauge may affect the finished size of your shawl and the yardage necessary to complete it.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 67"/170 cm along top edge and 14"/36 cm deep at center after blocking


  • Approximately 490 yards/448 m Sport Weight yarn
  • US 6 (4 mm) 32"/81 cm or longer circular needle
  • 1 US 6 (4 mm) DPN or spare needle
