Basic Skills Necessary:

  • understanding of lace knitting: yo's, ssk, k2tog, etc

Pattern Description:

Whenever I make a poncho pattern, folks want it in a shawl; whenever I design a shawl pattern, folks want it in a poncho! So, this is my first combo pattern ... both a shawl and a poncho based on the same design.

you start at the top, increasing on certain rounds/rows with the sparkly mohair and then work rounds/rows of lace patterning to make a fun, worsted weight poncho or shawl
poncho is worked completely in the round - only finishing is tucking in the ends.
shawl is worked flat, starting with a small tab and then carrying a patterned border while repeating the pattern rows 5x across.
the mohair blend used has sequins so you get a bit of sparkle - the stars at night - while gradually increasing the number of rounds/rows using the mohair

About the designer

Hi, my name is Mary Gildersleeve. I began designing shortly after teaching myself to knit at the age of 8, primarily because I do not take commands very well and I also could not afford the fancy ...
