Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round
  • knitted I-cord

Pattern Description:

These tipsy striped squares are created by the directional biasing of the lines of decreases. Each section of the bag is knit onto a previous piece and the whole requires only minimal finishing. Limitless variations are possible.
The bag is begun with one large square (or four half- size squares) which will define the size of the bag and the other side of the bag may be one large square with the option to reverse the colours.

This bag is versatile; from a dressy evening bag to capacious shoulder bag depending on your yarn choice and size chosen. There are three sizes of bag S (M, L) which may be worked in any yarn weight.

This project is also available as a kit from my website.

  • Choose a needle size to give you a suitable firm fabric in your chosen yarn. If you plan to felt the bag, you may work at a looser gauge. Experiment by felting in a swatch before you embark on the bag.

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Kauni Effektgarn
