Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit
  • Purl
  • K2tog
  • SSK
  • yo

Pattern Description:

This lacy head scarf is both elegant and
easy if you are familiar with these simple
lace stitches: yo, k2tog, ssk. The scarf is worked in one piece, starting at the bottom
of one side, increasing for the "hood", then decreasing back down to other end.
Worked flat without seams. I recommend either a sport or worsted wt. but I have also knit this in my handspun which is between a fingering and a sport. The changes will affect the width of the piece.

M1: (make one) with right needle, pick up strand between
needle points and place on left needle. Knit into back of
strand to create a new stitch.
pm: place marker.
sm: slide marker.

Gauge: 22 sts = 4" in stockinette st.

  • 1 pair straight needles or circulars, if you prefer, in US5, depending on yarn and gauge.
  • Sport or worsted weight recommended. I used Brown Sheep Nature Spun Sport, 2 skeins, 100% Wool, 184 yards/skein
  • 2 stitch markers

Suggested yarn:

350 yards of Sport weight

I also am a batik on silk artist. Something I have been playing with for over 20 years. And while I have never taken a class I have invented my own personal style.
