Worked seamlessly, from the top down, in stockinette stitch, this little hat can be knit up rather quickly! Once the crown is complete, the remainder of the toque is worked seamlessly and in intarsia; a fun technique to try. Front and back brims are worked in twisted rib for a snug fit and the earflaps or "wings" are made to cover the ears. I-cord ties with pom-poms finish off this super cute penguin toque, just in time for winter!
Worsted Weight held double, or Bulky weight yarn can be used.
16 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch, in the round
I was 4 when my grandmother taught me to knit. I have since enjoyed all sorts of needle work; crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint, quilting. However, my love is knitting and designing seamless and classic garments for children :)
