Vanilla Chocolate Socks

from The Creative Corner
(6) Name: 'Knitting : Vanilla Chocolate Socks
Vanilla Chocolate Socks

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit in the round, magic cast on, short rows

Pattern Description:

These socks came about when I wanted the look of a short row heel in a contrasting colour but with the fit of a gusset. I really didn't want to break up the colours of my yarn or get pooling, so I experimented with using a combination of a mini-gusset and a short row heel turn and found the perfect fit that just 'pops' onto my foot! I use this sock construction all the time now to get my perfect fit.

These are great for minimising pooling or colour changes caused by increasing stitches and are also a fun way to use up small amounts of yarn. Sizes available are small, medium and large (7",8" and 9" foot circumference). The sock is toe up.

8 stitches and 13 rows = 1 inch in Stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Small(7"), medium(8") and large(9) foot circumference. This gives a sock with ~0.5" negative ease. Additional sizes can be achieved by changing needle sizes.

  • US 1 - 2.25 mm needles
  • 100g 4ply yarn in 5 colours (~20g of each)

You Will Also Need:

  • Stitch Markers
  • Darning needle
