Basic Skills Necessary:

Pattern Description:

Mom always said that mittens are warmer than gloves. These clever handwarmers grew out of the need for my bicycling daughter to shift gears during her winter commutes. Turns out there are other times a person needs an index finger in the cold - taking pictures, using binoculars, scratching a nose, sipping a cup of tea, pinching the wind-reddened cheeks of a loved one. All the warmth of a woolen mitten, with a bonus index finger!

Gauge:

5 stitches = 1" in stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • adult size

Materials:

  • worsted weight wool, approximately 150 yards
