Mom always said that mittens are warmer than gloves. These clever handwarmers grew out of the need for my bicycling daughter to shift gears during her winter commutes. Turns out there are other times a person needs an index finger in the cold - taking pictures, using binoculars, scratching a nose, sipping a cup of tea, pinching the wind-reddened cheeks of a loved one. All the warmth of a woolen mitten, with a bonus index finger!

Yarn arts have been a part of my life since my mom taught me to knit when I was 10. My house is full of sweaters, mittens, dish towels, dolls, bath mats, and other items I've knitted or crocheted. Loved ones stay warm with my hand-knitted socks, gloves, hats, and scarves. Many of them are my own designs. I love sharing my creations with other yarn artists.
