Basic Skills Necessary:
- knit, purl, make one, yarnover.
- slip stitches, pass slipped stitches over other stitches.
- make short rows.
Pattern Description:
These socks came about because I was knitting socks for Tom; hence, Tomsocks! The pattern is fun to knit and garners compliments even while in progress. The stitch pattern has exciting effects on some variegated sock yarns--try it out!
Any sock- or fingering-weight yarn should work with this pattern.
Gauge:
8.25 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- size Medium (8" circumference)
- size Large (9" circumference)
- It's easy to modify the length of the foot, the calf, and the cuff.
Materials:
- 300-400 yards of sock yarn
- Recommended yarn: Valley Yarns Franklin
- size 1 knitting needles (or whatever size you need to get gauge). You can use one circular needle, two circular needles, or a set of double-pointed needles.
You Will Also Need:
- One locking stitch marker to mark the start of the round.
- A set of locking stitch markers if you choose japanese short rows.
- Tapestry needle.
