Pattern Description:

My 4.5 year old granddaughter asked me if I would make her a hat in pink. She asked me what else I could make for her. She suggested boots! LOL! I told her I couldn't make boots, but I could knit her a scarf to go with her hat. She loved that idea! She is in pre-ballet class, and I used ballet as my inspiration for the design because I think the ruffles look like tutus. I also made her younger sister a similar adorable set.

The perfect yarn for this project is Caron Simply Soft 100% acrylic. The yarn is double-stranded for the majority of the hat (not the ruffle). The scarf is not double-stranded, but it is also knit in the round, so it is doubly thick as well.

Gauge:

Stockinette St. double-stranded #9 needle: 3.5 sts and 5 rounds = 1 inch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • hat: circumference 17 (17) inches
  • hat: height 7 (7,5) inches

Materials:

  • 2 skeins worsted weight yarn - 1 skein Color A and 1 skein Color B
  • 25 yds worsted weight yarn - Color C
  • U.S. Size 8 and 9 16-inch circular needles and double-pointed needles

I have had many wonderful comments from knitters who have created items from my patterns and like their finished projects, but should ...
