Pattern Description:

A take on the classic stocking shape, this hat design features stripes that alternate both in texture and in color. Simple enough for a beginner to complete, but stitch patterns will hold the interest of more experienced knitters. Sizing implies stretching for a snug fit, size up if you prefer a looser fitting cap.


20 stitches and 26 rows per 4 inches in stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • FInished Circumference: 10.75 (12, 13.25, 14.5, 15.5, 16.75) inches
  • Size: Preemie (Newborn, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, Toddler, Child)


  • 35 (40, 50, 55, 70, 75) yards each A and B and 25 (30, 40, 45, 55, 60) yards C worsted weight yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • Size 7 (4.5mm) 16" circular needles and set of 5 DPNs, stitch markers
