Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cast-on, knit, purl, and decrease
  • work in the round and use DPNs (or other method for working in the round on a small diameter such as magic loop)
  • cables

Pattern Description:

Cabled beanie style hat features two cables, the larger of which decreases into a star-like pattern on the crown. Hat is worked bottom up. I suggest a light worsted to heavy DK weight yarn - the looser the gauge the stretchier the hat will be, a tighter gauge will make for a denser, warmer hat. Written instructions with abbreviations and full charted. Two sizes available "to fit" average child and adult size heads (finished measurements given). Pattern is also easily modified through varied gauge and number of repeats completed.

I was inspired to create this hat in honor of Eleanor Dickson, and happy to say that the profits from the first 500 copies of the pattern went directly to the family. As of 7/1/10, Eleanor has no cancer remaining in her body!
