Tired of scarves dangling and getting tied up and in your way? Are you an athlete - runner? bicycle? Do you have an elderly relative who can't stand that sharp cold air in the winter? Here's your answer to covering your mouth when you're out in the bitter cold winter wind! Knit yourself a surgical mask that contours over your nose and down around your chin, tying in the back. You'll have your mouth and nose covered from the harsh cold without the annoyance of a scarf. Don't be afraid of the short row shaping! Just try it and you'll be amazed at how easy it is. Note that this is not a fair isle pattern - the yarn used in the pictures above is a jacquard and makes the patterns by itself. This is overall a pretty easy pattern. Just knit, purl and a few rose of short row shaping.
My grandma ♥Stella♥ was a first generation Norwegian immigrant and taught me how to knit over 40 years ago. I grew up in Minnesota and have relatives all over the northern part. I transplanted myself to Virginia about 25 years ago and love the mild winters here!
