  • k1 tbl, twisted rib, twisted k2tog, twisted ssk, YO, knitting in the round.

Pattern Description:

This gently flowing stream babbles over pebbles in the shallows, parts to go around a branch sticking up, and flows smoothly where the water deepens. Coordinates with the Lazy River cowl pattern.

Mitts are worked in the round. The focus of the stitch pattern is on the back of the hand. The rest of the mitt is worked in twisted rib for a comfortable fit.

Coordinates with Lazy River cowl.

Model: Claudia Hand Painted Yarns fingering weight in Indian Turquoise in medium size; 175 yards in 50g; 100% merino.

Stitch instructions: Charted and written.


8 sts and 10 rows to 1 inch (2.5 cm) in twisted rib (relaxed), worked in the round.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished size (to fit hands approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) larger than the mitts): 5.75 [6.75, 7.75] inches;14.6 [17.1, 19.7] cm.


  • Yarn: fingering weight; 140 [170, 190] yards.
  • Needles: US 1 (2.25 mm) needles, or size needed for gauge.

You Will Also Need:

  • 3 stitch markers required (more markers are optional)
  • Smooth waste yarn in contrasting color.
