Pattern Description:

I remember a character from my daughters' childhood known as Strawberry Shortcake. She's changed some over the years, but she now wears a newsboy style cap and striped legwarmers. I loved the colors and decided to try to design the cap and legwarmers to go with it. This set can be worn year round!

Keep the cast ons for the legwarmers (ankles) loose to ensure they will go over the child's feet. If necessary, go up a size in the knitting needles but follow the same instructions.

in stockinette stitch: 5 sts and 7,25 rows = 1 inch

Cap brim circumference - 17.75 inches
Cap widest circumference - 23.5 inches
Cap height from top to hatband - 7 inches
Cap height from top to bottom of bill 8.5 inches
Legwarmers ankle circumference - 5 inches
Legwarmers leg circumference - 7.5 inches
Legwarmers length - 10.75 inches

Materials:

Caron Simply Soft 100% acrylic yarn - 1 skein each of soft pink, limelight and white
US Size 5 16-inch circular needle and DPNs
Size G/6 (4mm) crochet hook
Size 9 (1.15mm) steel crochet hook
28 plastic or pearl beads with at least 1/8 inch openings
Scrap worsted wt. yarn in bright pink or Caron Simply Soft 100% acrylic yarn in watermelon
